I doubt it. I think the best we can hope for is to merely contain it. I fear that this may be a war that could drag on for decades. Prepare your kids and grandkids for a major struggle.

Just outside a small villiage in Belgium (sorry can't remember the name) is a plaque. It commemorates the first skirmish of the First World War, between the Belgian Cavalry and the German Infantry.
About 350 yards down the road is another plaque and it commemorates the very last skirmish of the First World War, between the German Infrantry and the British Infantry.
This demonstrates the futillity of war, when over 6 million men died or were wounded for 350 yards of tarmac.
Wars are never won. There is of course always victory and defeat, but it's what we do with either of them that really counts.

No! as long as the ones who are fighting terrorism are terrorists themselves, it won't be won. Look at what happened to Afghanistan and iraq residents. They were set free from their cruel governors but the Americans ( BUSH) won't leave them by their own and there are still innocent people dying. And Look at the greatest terrorist in the world Israel which is supported by all the world as they are trying to totally eliminate Palestinians and lebenonies now!

If people come to realize the threat, if our political leaders can agree that terrorism must be crushed, if the leadership allows our military to destroy the enemy, if the major media stops painting the U.S. as a horrible and heartless regime, and as long as conservatives maintain or grow in power in the House and Senate, then yes, it can be won.

As long as the US, UK, Russia do not physically engage any organisation / country outside of their countries, the war on terrorism will continue to dominate headlines - it's all up to them!

For parties like the US, UK, Israel not to fight a war with those entities identified as 'terrorists', would be to lose the one that is being pressed on them by these parties - whether they want to or not. So maybe winning should not be seen as the end of conflict, but rather as not losing it. If they do nothing, it will be seen as weakness.

The war on teror is war on ideas. If you destroy an idea from our colective thought, then you win.
We are all conditioned by our societies, from childs age to ourdeath. What we need is reeducate , the mases with problematic ideas.
Is it possible, probably not , but at least you could lessen its influence, and destroy the propagators of these ideas.

Yes , but they have to stay on us and try to convince the American public to jerk Bush out of office, Cheney too. If not you should just stay on us , we will loose interest after awhile and go pick on another country, or we'll go start a war ar our home front, say Democrats vs. Neocons!
