I have always found that travel agents are your best bet.

Since they're so close, I bet there is a train or a bus.

Again, a travel agent can give you all your alternatives and the prices too.

you could try hitchhiking If it's just the Netherlands you want to go to, and it's in the weekend, the german railways have the schoenes-wochenende-ticket which is like 35 euros and you can use any train that isn't intercity or eurocity in all of germany, all day, with up to FIVE people. It can get you to Enschede, or Kleve (20 km from nijmegen), or Kaldenkirchen (walking distance from Venlo) or Herzogenrath. hth

There is a train roughly every two hours which costs regular fare around 100€ and takes something around 6 to 7 hours.
With a little luck you could get a special offer, but as these are limited you should try to book it as soon as possible.
You can find all information and book tickets under http://www.bahn.de/-S:PtVOR9:eZQKNNNNdrT6hNNNNWVM/p/view/international/englisch/international_guests.shtml It's in English.

Try looking at a "share a ride" website in Germany, i.e www.mitfahrzentrale.de. Drivers are looking for passengers and payment is about 5 cents per km. There are many others listed under "Mitfahrzentrale".

Probably by train although airfares are ridiculously cheap between close together cities like that...interesting---hmmm-- I would guess air or train would not be that much apart in price...but I enjoy a nice train ride...
