More importantly our energy resources/enviroment, and go some way to making life more comfortable for millions of others !

Why not make it law that landlords both private and social i.e. housing associations not only 'draughtproof' properties but double glaze them as well, in the UK there are hundreds of thousands of single glazed properties.

How much energy over a winter season could be saved?

apparently a law allready exists 'thermal comfort criteria' it's just that most landlords choose for one reason or another to ignore it(greed?) or (more greed)

Because most landlords are rich and laws are made for the rich, and the energy companies would make less money and the government doesn`t want that because the energy companies make considerable donations to officials that make the laws. Why don`t more city's have solar power so rates are lower. Sacramento California does (SMUD) and is all solar and when I lived there my bill was about half the price of other places iv`e lived. http://www.smud.org/green/index.html You are right landlords for the most part are greedy. Here in C.A. they are supposed to paint after every tenant moves out, shampoo the carpet or change it if its more than 5 years old, and change the locks. Several times I had to request that my landlord change the locks when I moved in. But they sure quick to charge for every little thing that you don`t write down on the move in sheet. Some but not many are nice to deal with.

There you go, thats what we need another law. Why is it that to you lib's everytime there is an issue the government needs to get involved. Basic free market rules will take care of things as they always do. We have plenty of energy in the world right now, therefore the majority of people don't really care. When supplies tighten up and drive costs up, people will do more to conserve.

Stop trying to legislate behavior, and focus on important issues.

I try my utmost to save energy, by doing as little as possible, as rarely as i can ;)

But seriously, yes all housing to should meet the lastest standards of energy efficiency, or be demolished (creating work)

Certainly not me. I believe we should use all the energy and force the younger generation to adapt or die. I believe everyone should get just what they "NEED" and "DESERVE".
