First they say they don't give a f**k what the rest of the world thinks re Iraq, global warming* etc and then they get worked up when people post questions saying they hate them.

How stupid can they get?

* they said it didn't exist when their own American Academy of Science said otherwise

Well not all Americans feel that way, I'm an American and I know global warming is a real threat, and I also think that Iraq was one big MISTAKE. Our country right now is ran by a bunch of lowlife rejects that think they can do what ever they want. And I apologize for my government, hopefully well get a better one in 08, of course I'm sure that the republicans will just steal the election again like they did the last two.

No, Americans aren't stupid. SOME Americans are stupid. And I don't know if stupid is the right word so much as undereducated and blinded by beliefs. On both the left and the right we have people who refuse to listen or engage in civil discourse. Many of us do care what the world thinks as we can see past the next 5 years and want to have international allies. Regarding the two issues you raise, Iraq and global warming, these two topics have been taken and turned into political issues. That means regardless of the FACTS certain people still think they are spin by evil lefties to disgrace the government.
This week I have been particularly disillusioned with my country, but I love it and am proud to have the freedoms we do. I just wish my fellow country(wo)men would question what authority says more.
As for the people who called you third world, etc, um, it just shows that we aren't really sure how to answer questions or solve conflict without fighting. Hopefully, that will change.

Your question is stupid.
We have a free society. Ask one question, get a hundred million answers. Unlike some other countries where every one toes the party line. That seems to be what you are used to.

We disagree with each other all the time, but we are patriots and U.S.A. citizens first, as the seditious ones are actually quite a small minority. That's why posts like this won't work. It's like fighting the ocean. And every day, throughout the world, other nations are joining. They are becoming free. You can't fight it, you can't kill it, you can't enslave it, you can't convert it.

The revolution in Islam has begun. The Arab League has already started turning on the terrorists and their supporters. Islam will survive, but not as the enemy of the West.

As it's ally.

No, not all Americans, don't tar them all with the same brush.

However - the likes of Staple King (a typical Ugly American)don't even know how stupid they are. Just look at his answer here, for example - incoherent and senseless. If he is a typical product of the US educational system then it is a miracle that so many Americans are as intelligent as they are.

Incidentally, somewhere along the line Staple King applied to emigrate to Australia - so his answer posted here is just the latest in a long line of his inconsistent idiocies.

You are confusing two different things. The policies of the American government against the popular (but unspoken) opinion of the people and the polemics of the press. If you will notice that all press releases about medical research are prefaced with 'MAY'....i.e. "Drinking Green Tea may prolong life" and scientists are not above finding miracles wherever they are told to find them. While there is a trend towards warming, is it because of pollution or is it cyclical? We have found it so in many branches of science that cycles do occur. But now it has become a polemic for Al Gore in his transparent attempt for presidential election. I seriously doubt that they get worked up over a very small percentage of people posting intelligent questions or even intelligent answers. You delude yourself with such pomposity. But back to the global warming issue. We are seeing changes in glacier melts, unusual storms and such but as far as I know, there are not definable facts that might not be related to volcanic ash and a combination of other natural events and some scientists in Australia even suggest that the pollution and the consequent build-up of greenhouse gases is caused by the flatulence of cows...the metabolic breakdown of grasses produces methane and plan to breed cows that produce less methane...I have a problem accepting that. What about the great herds of bison of North America and the equal or larger numbers of herbivores in Africa doing the same grazing and forgive the crude expression...farting for centuries. Look at your sources and cross-reference them to others. The US becaause of its technology has held a position of power for many years and have learned to disregard other nations because of this superiority but it is coming to a close. The CIA has said that China will be the leading country in 15 years or perhaps even less, but has never demonstrated such a superior attitude towards other smaller countries.

i don't care if someone says they hat us. it makes no difference. as for global warming there are two sides to the argument and studies also show that the studies they are using to prove that it exist is flawed. mt. saint Helen's explosion in the 80's released more dust and co2 into the atmosphere then 100 years of the combustion engine. so how do you prove its only what mankind has done to create a so called warming. do you really think we are more powerful then nature? as for Iraq the people elected their own government. next.

We love when people from third world areas like the UK or Aussieland. We know they wish they were here living the American dream so we play along with there attacks. We know, that they know...the only reason they are not wiped off the Earth is that evil countries know the United States stands by our little bitty allies and they mess with them...they get a fight with us

Well being that WE ARE the only world's SUPERPOWER, we hold that aura of being haughty and "too damn good for you."

It is true, we americans simply don't care. More people vote in american idol than vote in Political elections.

Sometimes, it feels pathetic to be called an American.

Yes we are, when a disaster strikes ANYWHERE, America's always the first there to help, then the stupid American people donate to aid the victims. America gives more and more and ask and receives NOTHING in return for its help and aid, how much dumber and stupid can we get?

Increasingly what we have are institutions that will produce the result of any survey you like to mention that fulfills the paymasters point of view. It brings into disrepute any meaningful study and debate. As to your question, I'll leave you to make up your mind. Thanks for being plain about it though.
