I like to have a long Persian beard (a curly beard) but I think it's annoying for ppl to see me with beard, this kinda feeling comes from west , but why westerners really dislike bearded guys? as in hollywood movies all the bad guys are dark hair\bearded ...

Beards used to be in favor in the mid 1800's and earlier. Men of status would wear a beard for the distinguishing effects, such as several Presidents and the Military officers during the Civil war.
around the turn of the 1900's a new style came about. The clean shaven Gentleman, and a push was on to disparage the bearded man. This just continued on to the point where it has become an unwanted thing. I had a Beard as you can see in my picture but I too shaved it.

I like men with beards, as long as the beard is kept short. A long beard looks very unhygienic!
I think the reason why most people prefer men without beards is, that they tend to look cleaner and generally more groomed.

I think some americans doesn't like bearded people if they observe that they look untidy or very obvious that they don't know how to clean and maintain their beard as well some of the bearded people looks villains or badboys! If you are happy with your looks with beard, don't shave it and be what you are,ignore those people who criticized you!Your real personality does not reflect of what you looks as long as you clean and trim it and enjoy the way you look!Critics have nothing to do with your looks,we have different taste likes and dislikes!Be yourself and do whatever you want as long as it will make you happy and you do no harm with others!

interesting. I myself am in love with a guy who sports a really cool beard. Not all westerners but as far as how it's portrayed in the movies I've never considered that.... not sure why really.

in the USA people in cities are afraid of beards. In the rural areas its no so. Oh, and look at Kevin Smith!!

I think beards are sexy. Just look at Wilie Nelson, and the guy from Lost. It is in the way you wear it.

Americans are afraid of too much hair. This is why we wax and shave everything.. from our heads to our cha-cha's. American men wax their chests and some even wax their legs.
