Wow...you can't beat that above answer ... and I agree with every word. Even in NY, the Jewish community is given special design unwarranted and the moment anyone takes up an opposing view, they are called anti-semetic ... then all the tears comes out about how bad the holocaust was.

Millions of people are dying three times over than what the Jews went through in Africa, but a fraction of that amount in Jews and we are still playing violins for them and they expect to get paid for missing gold and chasing down nazi's that are are 100 years old.

But do they help to do this work for the African-Americans that were enslaved? What about thier reparations? What about the Chinese that helped build america and died over cliffs when building railroads? Nope ... nothing.

But we have to care about the Jewish community because they still think they are the chosen people.

Personally, the Arab community should unite, stamp out Israel and be done with that little speck of a country once and for all.

But to your question, the United states supports Israel due to money and power here in the states. Great PR and underhanded deals. Why send money to the poor and hungry here when you can support the poor Israel war effort. You think those Israel weapons are made by a couple of jews in eatting bagels and locs?

America is all about who greases whose palm to get things done. And if you are a minority with no money, you can't get anything. The Jews here cry they are always getting raw deals but they have power in government, entertainment, medical care, etc.

And don't be surprised if this Question/Answeer session is being monitored so they can report it to the news and cry foul, hunt both of us down and get more sympathy. I'm so tired of the Jewish community it makes me sick.

First, because we recognize that the Jews suffered horribly during World War Two and before, due to anti-semitism. We know that the only way for them to really get away from anti-semitism is to have their own homeland. That is something most Americans would agree is true.

Secondly, because so very many influential Americans are Jews, and they support Israel almost 100%. So gentile Americans also end up supporting Israel, though perhaps not as vigorously, out of respect and sympathy for their friends and neighbors. When someone you love is worried sick about their relatives who live in a nation in constant threat from terrorists and suchlike, you pick up the vibe. Know any Irish people? They cannot forget that Ireland has its own long-standing problems with terrorism and violence.

I believe Israel is entitled to peace in their own land, because they basically purchased the land from the palestinians after World War Two. The people who are complaining now are those whose fathers and grandfathers voluntarily sold their land, one building plot at a time.

The USA continues to protect, encourage and finance Israel's 6 decades of ethnic cleansing in Palestine. The USA thwarts every humane gesture by the United Nations. The USA encourages and financially supports the slaughter of several hundred innocent people in Palestine every year by the Israeli death squads seeking Lebensraum. It is clear that the USA's ruling class is in love with Israel. They are blinded by love. [If the Palestinians all converted to Christianity, the scales would fall from the eyes of the US Americans. Then they would realise that the Palestinians are human beings.] The occupied West Bank of Jordan resembles the Warsaw Ghetto of World War II. The occupied West Bank is a slave prison of the jewish Israelis. But deeds which were evil when the Germans did them in WW2 are now encouraged every day by the USA when the Israeli land thieves do them. Seeing the enthusiastic US American support for Israelis turning innocent Palestinians into mincemeat is the principal cause of worldwide muslim anger against the USA. (Jewish intellectuals, as individuals, are the best people in the world in my opinion. The jewish people have the highest regard for education, intelligence and learning. But the Israeli apartheid regime has soiled the good name of all jewish people.)
My personal theory about the love affair between the USA and Israel is that US Americans feel a deep sense of emptiness in their short history. They can look back with nostalgia to the early migrations, the severance from Britain, the settlement/appropriation of the West, and the Civil War. But they have no deep sense of history as other nations have. To fill this gap, they look to the christian bible, which is tacked onto the jewish bible, and see their deeper origins as lying in Jewish history. Therefore US Americans feel that in some fundamental sense they originate from the Jewish people. So the love of Israel is really a kind of yearning for the ancestors. If the USA severed its attachment to Israel, US Americans would have to face the emptiness of their own short history. Some people wonder why a rich country such as the USA is so obsessed with religion. (Usually religion fades in rich countries.) The answer may be that christianity gives the USA a deeper national creation mythology than they can compose in their own right. The jewish and christian stories are substitutes for a deeper US American national creation mythology.

Islam cheered when we were attacked. Israel offered aid.
Islam wants the West destroyed, converted, or enslaved. Israel is willing to leave it alone except along the very same values the West has (competition, democracy, etc.).
Are there exceptions? Sure. For one, some of Islam stayed silent when 9/11 occurred. That wasn't necessarily a good thing. Israel didn't. Their support for America was firm.

Why in the world would we pick Islam over Israel? You've made your opinion of us VERY clear. We believe you.

With reference to Phwar68 - actually Hollow cost speaks the truth! The reason that America always has to side with Israel is because if America hadn't taken Israel from the Palestinians and given it to the Jews, there would not be all these wars over territory! The Americans gave away what was not theirs to give and there has been a war over it ever since. I guess they don't bother to teach that minor detail of American history in US schools?

They're going to tell you that it's because it's our only stable ally. But who made it that way? The West, America mostly, made it a stable, and prosperous, country. So the question is still there, even if going back to before it was a stable ally. Why extend all that help and support?
As for their other reasons: it has same values, it is the only democracy, it is peaceful and surrounded by hate, etc...: all uninformed.
The Arabs are to blame too to some extent. They sat by while Israel brainwashed and controlled this mighty country.

One thing i understood after reading every answer is this ....99.9 %americans dont have a clue as to what their govt is doing in other countries, they dont have a clue to what the forieghn policy is.They are bothered about hollywood n music n life of celebrities.when something like 9/11 happens they start askin 'why are they hating us'. This was a country who had produced extraordinary leaders like roosevelt and Lincoln and Martin Luther. What happened to this country now? I remember a novel written by george orwell...the creation of big brother...Americans arent realising that what they stand for is bieng slowly taken away from them..Media has stopped becoming the 4th estate..they are just another bunch of croonies..People are psyched into believing a ghost enemy ,Of course palms are bieng greased ..if this continues...America will be worse than N.korea...this once great country will be full of Zombies living in a meaningless world of Media created entertainment n hypes,of taxes,of 'celebrity' tales.

I remind you that a sizable portion of Israel is Arab, and all are free. Israel is an island of -- more or less -- freedom in a sea of autocratic dictatorships.
