I notice a lot of folks here are saying to try and sell your collection on eBay.

Well, as someone who HAS sold comics on eBay for a while, let me say that if you want a fair price for your comics you might want to try something else, like consignment at comic shops or posting ads in said comic shops.

There are also websites that you can search for where people are looking for comics to buy. Just check Yahoo! or Google for them. I won't pimp one over another.

eBay, unfortunately, is not the best place to sell off a collection. Aside from the time it takes to list everything and the up-front costs (you will be charged a listing fee and a seperate fee if you have a reserve price), many buyers will waste your time trying to buy your comics from you for less than you want, not to mention not wanting to buy them through eBay which is risky at best. THEN, you have the waiting for payment if they do sell. More often than you think, newbie buyers will simply stiff you. They don't care about negative feedback, so...

Finally, buyers who are not fair and honest will often leave negative feedback if the comic/s they buy are not in the most pristine of condition (a lot of people out there seem to think Near Mint means Mint). As a result, negative feedback will make other prospective buyers shy away from you. Make sure that if you do list on eBay, you grade as best as you can, often downgrading to avoid this.

I know this sounds very negative, but that's better than you going and spending a lot on insertion fees for nothing, right?

QuakJak is right. But I'll go even further. You CANNOT get anywhere near "market" price for your comics unless you have some serious golden/silver age stuff. eBay is saturated with people dumping comics at pennies on the dollar. You'll be lucky to get 25% of value. Comic shops will only give you roughly 25% of value for what they want. The only way to get close to market value is to find some real stupid person who doesn't know about eBay, or can't go to a comic shop when they're having a crazy 50-75% off sale. Sorry, comics are basically a non-money maker. Good luck.

Ebay!!! you get buyers willing to pay what they are worth (or pretty close to what they are worth). More chance of them being sold to appreciative people too, which means all your hard work won't be wasted. Make sure you put a worthy starting price on them (I'd start with about $10, but this is just an idea). You could also approach a local auction house, get a valuation and see if they will auction them for you (depending on the period they were produced in and the condition they are in).

good luck!

you could sell them one at a time or you could sell them as a lot for a fixed amount for the whole set.or you could break it down into specific heroes and comic companies, also try looking into which comics are the most valuable and sell them individually for a fixed price or do the auction thing ebay or whatever. if you have anything good i may be interested email me and let me know what you have.

EBAY. For the sole reason that most people that buy comics off that site don't know how much they're worth. Ive sold a few things on there and gotten more for them then they're worth. Good Luck.
