You only have to look at these borads to realise that there are people rushing into marriage without the first idea of how to make a relationship work. When I married I admit I had a totally flase idea of what life and love were all about - I was too young and believed the hollywood hype of the wedding being the culmination of a love story instead of only the beginning. By the time we had made each other thoroughly miserable the most adult thing we did was getting divorced.
Now, although no-where near plain sailing, I have a partner I cherish - I feel more 'married' to him than I ever did to my husband.
So yes it's accepted, maybe even normal but I think that those who are't and never had been married should save their condemnation.

Yes...Years ago it was frowned upon but these days people are less tolerant and more likely to get a divorce. I have been married twice and personally I don't think that it is so great. I think we should just live with one another and if you need to go through a ceremony then make sure it isn't legally binding. When solicitors become involved it can get dirty and the only one who benefits are them.

Its very common. Being married no longer means a lifetime deal any more. If your hubby or wife has some issue you dont like, divorce is the easy way out..and for some its a planned way to get checls for the rest of thier lives.

Yes, it is common these days becasue people are changing with changing times. Mariiage is a beautiful relation where your spouse is your best friend and you can share your jous and sorrows, enjoy life. When the same becomes a burden, there is no point bearing the burden for life

It seems almost as common as getting married, commoner in fact! So few people are prepared to commit themselves
What a sad reflection on peoples attitudes to one another and their children.
I personally am deliriously happy and still very much in love with my husband of 4O years marriage!!! One of the lucky ones I guess.
