Funny question, I know...but why do the insides of our pillows, not the actual coverings, change colour over time? I always assumed it was to do with sweat, but then I can't work out why sweat would turn it that particular colour...something to do with the white-ish dye used in pillows that reacts with the salinity of the sweat?

Urea in sweat will stain anything brown. The color change in your pillows is because of sweat. You were right.. do a little dance.. and remember.. the first instinct is usually the right one. lol

sweat carries dirt, plus oils from your skin and hair leave a residue build up over time. the dirt from sweat sticks to the oil residue and turns brown over time.

hope that helps ya

My pillows never turn brown... and I wash my covers long before they are noticable decolored.... but here we use natural cotton pillows.

I would guess that there are micro organisms that grow inside that turns yours brown. Hygiene. Hygiene
