Ghosts in Britain are probably real but not in the way that most people think. It is suspected, but not proven, that certain places, such as a room can "retain" an image. Hence the workman seeing a Roman legion going through a gateway, from the waist up. Reason:- the floor had not been dug out that they were marching on. I personally think that sometimes there are tears/rips in the space/time continuum. Yes, I am being serious, and that we get a glimspse of some-one/something through the "rip". "they" see us the same way and probably equally terrified.
I come from the Isle of Wight, never seen a ghost, but have talked to one! Again I am not joking. So tell me why two pillars outside a ruined deserted manor house, should have the design on top change shape? A light pass windows three floors up, when only the front of the building was left? That one was seen by my ex-wife, and was seen by locals for years. Ghosts, I love them, and I really do wish I could see one. but you see I believe so they don't have to prove themselves to me, only to "unbelievers". The ghost I spoke to? A little girl aged 12, who was put into a sack and thrown into a mill pond, her name was Ella. Sadly, she drowned. She is very sweet, but there is a second ghost in the vicinity, who scares her, and come to that, me as well. This one is "nasty" so I don't go near. Don't believe me? Well some-one I used to work with asked to "sit in" on a session. Halfway through, he left very hurriedly, as he had seen something. He did not attend again. Most people in Britain love a ghost story but probably no more believe or disbelieve than anywhere else in the world

i see dead people! hundred's of people all over the world and of any religion have seen ghosts right back to when time began. although people often dismiss the idea, the number of sightings anywhere in the world is staggering! i think british people are more open to the supernatural and because we have many historic ruins and castles, only strengthens the idea that ghosts exist. i have seen a few myself, and who knows, the person passing you in the street might not be of this world! we all believe in different things, but i truely believe ghosts exist. hope it helps.

I don't know what you mean by being 'trust' , but certainly many British people have seen ghosts. Just like in Continental Europe.

The fact is though, many, many more have not.

Why this is - is for you to determine, but the fact is, even people who don't believe in ghosts often change their mind after experiencing their first encounter with the 'other side'. (The great majority in fact.)

Apparently so. I know a few people who claim to have seen them. These are people who don't normally hold with such nonsense, so I don't really know what to make of it all.
If such things exist, I'm sure they will be explained satisfactorily in due course.

I don't think there is any real way to find out, but I wouldn't be suprised due to the countries long history of spiritualistic religions.
