He temporarily swapped roles with Al, so he was the hologram and Al was leaping in one episode I saw, thus he got to go back to his own time and got to see his wife again for a bit (though he forgot she existed again when he swapped back again). There may have been other episides lke this though, I just can't remember. I know that when they ended the series though he just kept on leaping and never came back to his time.

No he never returns home. I don't know if that's because he choses not to like the other poster said, though. From what I remember, he refused to believe he had the power to go home all that time and because he couldn't come to terms with that, he kept leaping.

Actually there was an episode where he did go back to his own time and we find out he has a wife (or Girlfriend).

the answer is revealed in the final episode at the end of the show. he does not ever return home. this happens right after he is given the opportunity to revisit Al's ex-wife Beth and save their marriage, which he does.

No he didn't, he could have if he wanted to but he chose to continue. In the final episode, he met Faith and faith offered him a chance to stop but he decided not to take it.
