Anyone know a home cure for a peri-anal fistula? I've had two operations and the thing keeps coming back and although it seems to be gradually getting smaller it just won't go away (it's been 3 years now).
Please don't include answers like prayer, hugging crystals and dancing naked at midnight (well maybe just a bit of naked dancing lol).
What I'm looking for is a poultice, ointment or other remedy that will actually deal with the infection and stop it recurring.

Rebecca - thanks but the problem with a fistula is that they heal from the outside before the infection is removed from the inside, enclosing the infection and causing it to erupt again later. What I need is something to draw out the infection first.

Hi! Well, the best recommendation I have is a poultice of Plantain (no, not the banana like thing the herb lol) because it sounds like there is still infection in there, and the Plantain will pull it out. If it has started to form hard edges, granulate or scab, I would suggest a poultice of Calendula or St. John's Wort instead - they have wonderful wound healing abilities - but not until after it is scabbing or granulating because you want the infection out first. I would also add some Lavender essential oil to the treatment at that point. I am at windstarhealing.com if you have any questions. Good luck!

The herb that most quicky closes any wound is comfrey. It is not to be taken internaly according to the FDA cause they think that it causes liver damage..but it has been used for centuries with no incidences...i have no problem taking it.
It containes allatonin that is a cell proliferant. It is recommend for use by women that have had perianal tearing from chilbirth.
I see that someone recommended plantain...it is good to draw out poison and would be good to clean the wound... but its not a great wound healer. But it can be found almost everywhere. I have included a link to a picture of the plant...youll probly recognize it as a pesty weed that you cant get out of your yard. There are two kinds of plantain and they are interchangable.

You can buy Comfey ointment at the site below or you can make it at home fresh if you buy the ingredients seperatly. Comfrey is easy to find in powdered form on the web and is not that expensive.

Dr. John R. Christopher used this ointment to completely regrow fingers that has been chopped off and to repair the hand of a young boy with massive 3rd degree burns that had been in a fire...it heals with nearly no scaring...
.
To make it yourself you need dried or powdered comfrey, honey, wheat germ oil.

Combine two equal parts of honey and wheat germ oil and then mix in comfrey untill the consitancy of a thick and spreadable paste. Put on the wound about a half inch thick and cover with a bandage..leave on constantly and reapply when needed. Do not remove the original application just put more on.

Making a poulice is also good but nothing can compair to the comfrey ointment.
Here is a link for a page of testimonials of people that have used comfrey. http://www.herballegacy.com/testimonials.htm

NO it can't,a fistula is abnormal channel from the rectum to the outside and sometimes through another organ like the vagina. They can present from birth or develop from other causes, the only cure would be a surgical repair. They are a constant source of infection and pain, and can become more complicated etc. Take care. You might want to try fasting. But see a doctor who supervises fasts first.
