Windows firewall is not sufficient to protect your computer... you need to get a virus scan that downloads and updates itself online... then you can uninstall and go to site... and reinstall again, if problems like this happen... which are very unlikely.

Go to McAfee site and follow links to get help with viruses. http://uk.mcafee.com/default.asp?cid=10576

Download a good firewall (it's worth the annual cost) it will update itself every day, with every new virus they invent...trust me... someone is inventing a new virus all the time.

You may have opened a link someone pasted in the answers site... it has a virus. I opened it myself, but my firewall blocked it instantly and told me so. Trouble is, I was gonna report it, but forgot where it was, because I instantly shut down and did a scan, then cleaned my system out, before using the site again.

I've been Online for eight years, used McAfee all that time... I recommend it as the best.

the first step you want to take is to end downloading dodgy (doubtlessly unlawful?) application from no longer-so-respected web pages/classes. i have used the inventory homestead windows firewall seeing that continuously and under no circumstances had a virus difficulty. I do however run an Antivirus application (different from a firewall). I recommend AVG loose (there is non loose version yet loose works positive), run it once a week and also you should be positive.

Better get another Firewall rather than Windows. Like ZoneALwarm or McAfee. They're way better.

Sure
1. Download the file from the link below.
2. Start your computer in safe mode.
3. Run the file. It should scan and remove most viruses. Good luck.

Did you remove the virus? If not go here and post a thread. Put the name of the virus exactly as listed by the program that found it. Also the program that found it.

Buy a Mac. I've had mine for over a year and never had a virus, and I don't use any antivirus software. You can get a Mac Mini for a few hundred bucks and use your existing monitor, keyboard and mouse.
