I had protected sex with my boyfriend on the 20th of this month and while having sex the condom broke (first time that ever happened to us). I felt him leaking so i jumped up and washed myself in the bathroom.
My question is this: I want to use the "The morning-after pill" today but I'm not sure if he actually cam inside me (but i want to be on the safe side). I'm still going to use it but will it really work? It said to work within 72 hours (3 days) and I'm on my second day since the incident so i have 2 days left...
Questions:
I'm going to get it today but am curious as to if this pilll actually works? and if i am pregnant, is this somewhat like an abortion? and what will it do to my body...like will I actually see things in the toilet...like blood, etc? Please answer all questions.
Thanks

The morning afterpill is the equivalent of taking a whole month's birth control pill at one time. yes, it should still work, and no, its not an abortion, since it prevents the zygote from attaching to the uterine wall and you aren't officially pregnant until it attaches. You might want to get a prescription for the pill when you are at the doctor's or clinic so you don't have this worry again. you won't see anything, because it will be too small, and will probably be flushed during your next period.

yes the morning after pill will work.
If you are pregnant the pill will make you cramp and have what is like a miscarriage. You may see some blood but the baby would be so small you shouldn't see anything else.
If you don't get any symptoms then you were not pregnant and the pill just stopped the egg from developing or it did nothing because there was no egg. My friend just did this a few weeks ago and she had a miscarriage or an abortion as others would call it, due to the pill.

This sounds kind of cruel and after having a baby boy of my own just 3 1/2 months ago doesnt make this one of favorite websites. But here's what I found and I hope it helps.
How do emergency contraception/morning-after pills work?
The emergency contraceptive/morning-after pill has three possible ways in which it can work (as does the regular birth control pill):
Ovulation is inhibited, meaning the egg will not be released;
The normal menstrual cycle is altered, delaying ovulation; or
It can irritate the lining of the uterus so that if the first and second actions fail, and the woman does become pregnant, the human being created will die before he or she can actually attach to the lining of the uterus.
In other words, if the third action occurs, her body rejects the living human embryo, and the child will die. This result is a chemical abortion. (Abortion is an act of direct killing that takes the life of a living preborn human being—a life that begins at fertilization.)
Is it safe?
Here are some of the side effects:
nausea
vomiting
infertility
breast tenderness
ectopic pregnancy (can be life threatening)
blood clot formation

Laura, the morning after pill works best the morning after. you cant guarantee the the pill working after that even though the pack usually labels '72 hours'.
Why dont you use it to be on the safe side - try not to delay it. It usually has 2 pills.. one to be taken in the morning and on the next or the same night.
All the best. and also, if possible - talk to your close female friends that know of this..

The pill will kill the spermatozoa containing the sperms, iniside of you before it reaches your egg. There wont be anything in the toilet whatsoever.U r OK.Dont worry. One suggestion : Next time u face such a situation as soon possible sit up with legs spread so that the spermatozoa flows out,ok?but still take precautions after that like the pills

NO it's not like an abortion. Because you have to take it within 72 hours.. all it does is prevents a fertilized egg from attaching if there is one.. all that is going to happen.. is a normal periond.. the egg is the size of the tip of a pen.. and you pass one every month in your normal flow anyways.. it doesn't END a pregnancy.. it prevents it from happening.. so.. in essence.. you're NOT pregnant.. and you're never going to BE pregnant..

Yes it works, i have used it before. But if you are pregnant it will not abort the baby. The morning after pill just makes sure you dont become pregnant. No you wont see anything, some people have told me it made them sick. But i didnt get sick
