I am also from England and I would also like to point out the American assumption that it is always foggy here. I've lost count of the amount of American people who mention our bad weather. For the record, its hotter here today than it is in Jamaica (.... and not at all foggy!!!)
And why is that if we Brits speak in anything but the Queen's english then it is assumed we are Australian???
But I love you Americans!! You're voices sound so much friendlier and more approachable than ours.

You sound young, but when you are a little older, you will take it as a good thing. I always sear stockings, and what you call suspenders, and in the US we call them garter belts to work, because I hate the restriction of pantyhose.
Guys here in the US go insane over the sight or even thought that a girl has them on. I am 26, and dress very professionally, and people are always asking me if I went to school in Europe, or Mostly England. When I say no why, they say because I dress so sophisticated. I guess because American women are such sloppy dressers, when someone sees a girl in stockings, and tailored sexy clothes they figure you are from England or Europe. It's not a bad thing!

Maybe its because all the nice stockings come from the UK. I an 16 and love wearing stockings and garters(suspender belt) but all the good stuff in from England on the Internet. You should try some of your own stockings they are fab and the guys go bonkers over them. I have dress up a job after school, and hate pantyhose, that's what got me into them.

just my opinion but..I think Brits used to be all stuffy and snobby..but now they just seem crazy and looney! Its the only opinion I can get..from TV mostly, and we all know how the media can distort everything,so I dont believe all I here or read..The Brits have always thought they are better and more moral than Americans..just like many other countries so in turn we have our wacked out opinions of you as well..just as you have yours of us..to each their own tho..

It's the accent. British accents have a very strong sound of poshness and pomp to them compared to ours.

I'd blame those damn Spice Girls for this!
Nah! What you were subjected to was just a play on stereotypes. I'm sure the Brits do it to us American's too.
