But if you are constantly spending time with this girl, and starting to build a relationship with her, that takes time away from your current girlfriend. It is pretty much cheating on her emotionally.

I'd say if you have to ask the question, "don't do it".
Instead of back rub, substitute the words "giving pleasure with touch", which is really what it is. Ask your GF, "Honey, tomorrow at work, I am going to give Alice some pleasure by touching her." See what she says to that.:-)
Or here is another questions, what would you say if your 12 year old daughter got a back rub from her 35 year old chemistry teacher? Yeah, maybe it was purely innocent, but I know what most people would say about this.
So the question is it sexual. One will never know if it is and that is the problem. It could be the giver has bad intentions. Or if not, maybe the receiver finds the experience erotic. The bottom line is that it could create doubts in your relationship. And if you truly respect your GF, I'd say err on the side of avoiding doubts.
Lastly, is is really necessary?

no thats not cheating. i think that you were just helping out a friend and if you have no feelings for this girl that you gave the back rub to then you weren't cheating on the other hand if you have feelings then i think that would be cheating. it just depends.

If it's only a back rub, and you give your partner back rubs too, and it really really doesn't mean something, you may be able to persuade your partner it wasn't cheating. But it's her who decides if she thinks something is cheating... not strangers.

I wouldnt call it cheating but it depends on who the girl is. Im sure you wouldnt like it if your girlfriend was getting a backrub from a guy, right?? U can say it might lead to something else if it happens.

It may not be but it may be innapropriate unless you're a massage therapist and you're doing your job. Think of it this way, would you like your woman to give another guy a back rub?

Depends if she's got a brother, father, bf or husband present when you're doing it, then you'd know whether or not it is cheating.
