I'm since using a spray to prevent them, but a few days ago i got bitten on my leg and i've had a bad reaction. Thing is - i have a wedding to attend in one week and my dress comes above the bites. From past experiance they can stay red and swollen for up to three weeks.
So far i've been putting an aloe vera based gel on them, but it hasn't made a difference

Chamomile lotion or spray should help to keep the swelling and itching down, but I think you're probably stuck with it. You can't change your body chemistry to keep you from being allergic to the blood thinners in the bite site.

My great grandmother used to rub half a lemon with salt on it over the bite, it also helped swelling.
