Date rape? You mean you thought it was just a date but your date raped you?

To recover from a rape...

Realize that it is not your fault.

Talk to someone over the phone or online

Seek counseling

Whether you decide to press criminal charges against your assailant or not, it's a good idea to get a physical examination with a Rape Kit. Speak with a representative of a local crisis center to assure that this examination is handled with dignity and respect from your recent trauma.

It will be a long and tough road to recovery. First off realize that it wasn't your fault. You could talk to your mom. Dad's and brother's usually get crazy and complicate things. Go to a rape crisis clinic or call a rape hotline in your area. They will be sympathetic and empathetic to your situation and needs. They will also counsel you in how to deal with this situation. Also, get checked out by a doctor for possible STD's. I don't want to scare you but that is the reality of this unfortunate incident. The counselor's can help you file a report with the police if you want or find you help with other aspects of follow up care. If you are going to file charges don't wash up yet. The doctor's will need a semen and tissue sample to help the cops make a case. You have taken a courageous step in asking this question. Now, decide what you want to do and do not let this bastard off the hook. He needs to be brought accountable for his actions and punished accordingly. Good luck to you in this endeavor.

ps: Go and get a TRO (Temporary Restraining Order) on this guy. You'll need to check your local court system for that. When you get one and he get's served, he cannot come within a 100 feet of you and your property without being arrested. Keep your cell phone with you with 911 on speed dial. Good luck Veronica.

Did this happen in the last 24hrs? If yes, DON'T wash and go to the police/doctor/hospital in that order of preference. I would advise you to go to the police in order to prevent the bloke from raping again!

Have you seen a doctor and been to the police about this? It is REALLY serious so the sooner you report it to the police the better. The police will get you seen by a doctor who will take any samples and also treat you for any medical problems and test you for STDs, this is important. The police will get you the counselling you need. Confide in a close friend and your family and they will also give you support and encouragement. if you decide not to go to the police PLEASE go and see a doctor to get checked over and tested for STDs and HIV.

I haven't been through this horrendous ordeal but this is the advise I would give anyone to be honest. It isn't going to be easy but nobody said it would. You need to get all this help and support and come back fighting to show your attacker that he won't get the better of you!

Good luck, I hope you come back fighting!

You try and carry on with your life as normal as possible.
It will be very hard to begin with but you don't want things to change as a result of some beast using you.
Make sure you go to the docs and have tests so that you haven't caught anything, take a pregnancy test and contact the police.
Try not to spend the rest of your life worrying about it or reliving it.
Be extra careful around male strangers and carry a panick button with you at all times.
I wish you all the best, and I hope you catch the pig and he rots in jail.
It wan't your fault, so don't blame yourself. Remember that you are the only one to deal with this.
Good Luck x

if the rape is recent you don't wash yourself, call the police, get examined by a doctor, remember that it's not your fault, and try to find a recovery group, but my dear recovery is a long road and denial is an even longer river so it takes time, tender love and care , a good ear to listen and a wonderful shoulder to cry on and in time your mental wounds will start to heall but it needs time
