Let's face it, reality sucks. I mean look around; government these days is literally comprised of a bunch of murderers stealing life under the guise of "Terrorists are going to get you." Husbands and wives cheating on entire families. Public school systems spewing anti-God messages. Blacks acting as if they don't have a chance. America no longer has a border.

REALITY SUCKS.

I am seriously thinking about INTENTIONALLY making myself delusional. I am thinking about supporting George Bush and having an affair with the next woman I come into contact with. I mean, WHY NOT? The whole freaking world has gone crazy.

Morals are meaningless and even though I've not been the best person in recorded time, I certainly do not fit in this time in history. I must therefore CHEAT REALITY by ignoring it, before it KILLS ME.

Thoughts?

TO SCRUFFYCAT:

I would agree with you BUT, somewhere in Iraq, probably EVERYWHERE in Iraq, there is a man sitting in a chair holding his baby daughter, praying to whatever God he prays to, that his child will be safe. All around him, as he holds his baby girl, there are bombs going off that are being tossed at THEM by OUR PEOPLE. And for what? To get TERRORISTS? Well, NO, I cannot ignore that. I cannot help but ache inside for that Dad. It makes me cry right now.

George Bush LIED and all those who REFUSE to face the REALITY of what George W Bush did on 9/11 and since then are as guilty as him.

And that defenseless Daddy over there getting blamed for being a TERRORIST for NO FREAKING REASON other than George W Bush's GREED and need for POWER and CONTROL is probably going to watch his baby daughter DIE as a result.

I support our troops, but they are brainwashed and following BAD orders. REALITY SUCKS, and I'm not in the line of fire. Imagine how the innocent victims feel.

What you need to do is ignore the news for a while.
Watch a funny movie.
Read a funny book.
Plant some sweet basil in your yard, and pinch the leaves off now and then and smell them.
Eat some ice cream.

Stop looking at all the bad in the world. I promise you. It's really bad out there and worse even.

Isn't there something in your life worth living for? A niece? A sibling? A friend?

I'm not saying that I think you're going to kill yourself...I just think you're taking yourself and the world too seriously.

Yeah, so some parts of reality suck. Life is short and you don't get to fix everything. Fix what's in your power to fix. Find some unsucky things and enjoy those things.

People ignore reality all the time. People make up their own reality.
Are you happy living that way?
Seriously, think about it for a while. Reality is an illusion, that is the reality. We have created this little world of hate we all live in, and you and everyone else has been absorbed by it. Labels, morals, ideas, these are all creations of the human mind.
Well, maybe that won't make sense to anyone who reads it.

I think you should just plug yourself into the matrix.

If that doesn't work, try playing some MMORPGs (massively multiplayer online roleplaying games, for those who don't know.)
You can just create your own character, and in a sense your own life in some fantasy world. Seriously, if you play video games like this too much, it will become a major part of your life.
Sometimes if I play a game a lot before i sleep, I 'll end up dreaming that I'm actually inside of the game. It's pretty nice.

There are benefits to suspending reality at times. We all need a break now and then, to help us calm down and relax. Sometimes I just don't listen to the news on the radio or TV if things have been getting too depressingly bad.

Try reading a really trashy novel - you get the thrill of doing those awful things you mentioned, without messing up your own life.

Reality is what YOUR life is. It is what you live day to day. You can cheat on your wife if you want, but it will be YOU living with the reality of the consequences.

Regardless of all the insane crap going on around us, we still can maintain our little circle of reality. There is no need to get caught up in the media frenzy, showing you all that is wrong with the world. All that really matters is all that is right in your own little world.

The answer to the question is yes as is clearly proven by religion. All you have to is surrender your self-respect.
