I agree with coolbeanie for the most part. Birth control pills will not "remove" the cyst but can help shrink it enough not to affect your ovary. When you go off the pill, there is a risk for regrowth of the cyst and at a faster rate. It [the cyst] does not always grow back however, do be aware of that risk. You might still want to consider surgical removal but, only as a last resort. No chance of regrowth unless you have particularly cystic ovaries. Talk to your gyno. Get a second opinion even. Go over all options and make an informed choice. Hope all goes well.

Some ovarian cysts are regulated by hormonal fluctuations. Birth control pills can help to regulate your hormonal balance and can shrink the cyst but not totally remove it. If this works for you it will keep you from losing an ovary during the childbearing years.

no pillls are to prevent you from pregnancy and to slow down the flow of your period if you are old enough i would discuss hysterectomy with your dr that is the only fool proof way they wont come back i went thru the ame thing at 39
