The illegal drug trade is a global black market activity consisting of production, distribution, packaging and sale of illegal psychoactive substances.

Drug trafficking can be considered moving any illegal substance, such as prescriptions or illegal drugs across county, state or Federal borders. It depends on who is prosecuting you, which depends on where you were busted and how much you have. They can also bust you for drug trafficking if you were busted on a freeway if they are trying to add some more charges and therefore time to you sentence to screw you.

Drug trafficking is the transportation of illegal "drugs". It essentially means someone is somehow moving drugs into a populated area in order to sell them and make a profit.
Examples, Large trucks carrying cocaine, airplanes carrying marijuana. Even that one case where the traffickers put cocaine in bags inside of puppies.
