Depends on what you mean by "sex education". In the 1960s schools had "sex education" that meant "learning your own body and how it works" starting in the 6th grade. It did not teach about the physical action of having sex.

I do not agree with teaching about the 'sex act" in elementary school.

i think sex ed should most definitely be taught in elementary. most kids hit puberty near the end of their elementary years. with the amount of bad sex these kids are exposed to it would do them good to learn what sex really is, how it works, and most importantly, what it can do (good and bad). if left to the parents it's pretty much been proven that the parents will choose not to talk about it in hopes that ignorance somehow equals safety.
anything is better than what we have now. sex ed these days basically tells kids that there's something called sex and you're not supposed to talk about it. this nation's puritanical view that sex is evil and sinful is why there is such a high rate of teen pregnancy and abuse. educating kids the right way will at least give them the proper information on how to protect themselves and hopefully the self confidence to make intelligent decisions concerning sex when the time is right.

DEFINITELY NOT!!!
Most children aging 7-12 are just preparing themselves and starting themselves to conceptualize concepts. Yes, I do believe, that there are what we call "the genius". But being intelligent does not equally mean that a child is also emotionally stable.

In the Philippines, sex education is good only for students/children aging 18 and above. In fact, even high school students who reached such age but having no emotional stability at all will just perceive it as a puzzle.
Meaning making them wonder and explore if it really works. Then, it's a virus to them not a help!

Again, it shouldn't be taught to elementary children for it will not dropped problems later on but just igniting another chaotic problems soon.

the only sex ed i agree with in elementary level is educating the child on how he or she can protect his or her body against abuse. I don't think that their brain can comprehend the complexity of higher content of biological or physical sex ed. However I think parents have to play their role in educating their children. If they can't, they must ask the school counselor help.

Yes i agree, so these children will know what is wrong and what is right about it, thus making them able to protect themselves from abuse. I read a story on a local newspaper about a 7-yr old girl and a 9-yr old boy caught in the act of doing ...that..How did they know how to do that? They saw from their parents and what was shown on tv in their houses! That was how they learned. Nobody told them the proper thing about it, the good and the bad. So parents, be aware! Kids are watching you and what you are doing!

As long as it's handled in an age appropriate way I agree with it. I think many people would actually be better off, if that had been implemented in their schools. I know I would have.

I agree with it because it takes a lot of pressure of the parents. Also, their parents don't know everything about it or the parents might lie to their kids just to stop them having sex and stuff like that.
