because it takes the whole body to support or carry the head that protect the brain including the lung.

A brainy question!!! The brain is the commander of man. The brain should be very close to most important sensory organs of any animal. The most important sensory organs are eyes, ears, nose, tongue. Thus, the closer the brain, the best is the performance of the sensory organs. Thus, the head is the apt place for the brain in any animal. One of the scientific reasons for extinction of dinosaurs is the long distance between the brain and the other parts of the body.

maybe we can approach this in another way....i think parts like head, chest, and other captivity is MADE (i mean they are products of evolution) for the needs of containing those organs respectively in different places in the body of an organism
the head FITS the function of the brain quite well...eyes are the extension of the brain, and just as a person said before, the head shortens the distance between the brain and the sensory organs. moreover, the head enables us to look round to detect and receive information from the outside world. meanwhile, the chest (i mean the rib case) also MEETS the function of the lungs...they can expand so that ventilation can take place
i think those could be the evidence that the head and other body parts are taylored for the organs that are in them; therefore the brain is in the head, lungs are in the chest....everything is in their place

It's about design.
Assuming your lungs were in your head, your head would have to be way larger to accommodate them. Also, eating would be a problem, so you whole digestive apparatus would have to move too.
your heart ought to be near the lungs to facilitate having the oxygen transport through the blood system, but it may be able to stay where it is.
Your now over-sized head would be impossible for your mother to have given birth to you without a complete overhaul of her reproductive tract and skeletal structure.
Your brain however, would be in trouble.
up to 80% of your body heat leaves through your head area and if your brain were in your torso it would overheat.
I find your question intriguing, don't listen to the others.
I hope that was helpful

What a cool-a.ss question! The brain is in the head because, well, I don't know! But it makes sense, right? The head is where all your important sensory functions are, like the nose for smelling, the ears for hearing, the mouth for eating, the eyes for seeing! Your head would probably be on your chest if you had your brain there, don't you think? Then your boobs would be on your face lollllll

lungs r in d head because it helps in breathing. d air v breath goes inside because of 2 things, 1) d air pressure dat is created inside d lungs 2) d gravity which acts on because of its due position. now think if d lungs were to be in d head d air v breath wud hav to be pumped up. and d reason d brain is in d head is for protection, since it is an important organ it is placed at d top in a cranial cavity or skull.

If your lungs were in your head, then your forehead would cave in and out whenever you get excited and no one wants that! Either that or because it would be too difficult to do the heimlich with a skull blocking the way.
