Me.
The sex pistols may have been the biggest but definitely were not the best.
Step forward the Clash, kings of the british punk scene. A band with bollocks and singing about stuff that mattered, not postering and posing like the pistols.
London Calling. Brilliant. an Anthem for a generation.
And my second favourite band were the Buzzcocks. Manchesters finest. Spiral scratch can claim its place among the best of the Clash.
Still listen to a lot of other punk stuff but only the commercial stuff,
Look out for an album called "Sound of the Suburbs"

Define. I always thought punk and rock were two different genres. Like punk would be the New York Dolls. Rock would be Bad Company or something. There definitely needs to be definition here for any of us to give you an answer you'd like and agree with.

I'm into older stuff, like: Social Distortion, The Ramones, Op Ivy, Stiff Little Fingers, The Clash, Sex Pistols, Bad Religion and lots more...ya know, I like a lot of newer stuff too...Just because it's new doesn't mean it isn't punk...maybe you should be looking for bands somewhere other than myspace and mtv...there's some great underground $hit around, you've just gotta look for it! : )
