My sister is a hacker. I'm sorry to say this, but it's true. She always feels like she needs to know every little thing about me- she read all my diaries when we were younger and goes through my personal files. Now she's trying to hack into my e-mail account. I'm worried about this, because she knows my birthday and could easily answer my security question. I have lots of private e-mails from friends that are NOT her business to know, and I never delete an e-mail because I just can't bring myself to do that. What should I do?

Yahoo has pretty good security on their e-mail so I really wouldnt worry about your sister actually 'hacking' into your e mail.
She is probably playing the hit and miss game. She will try passwords that she knows you would try and if doesnt work she moves on.
You need to change your password daily until she gives up. Pick 3 passwords and cycle them every day or every other day.
Change your security question to something that doesnt make sense. Change the answer to something like "90kdujdieodmfjgu38484". She will never guess that and you dont need it since you know your password.
My older brother did this to me when I was younger and I hated it!
By the way. Remember to ALWAYS delte your history and temporary internet files. If not she can get your info through there. If you dont know how to do that ask another question. We will answer.

Do what everyone else is saying change your password first of all.Use numbers instead of letters.I use to use an old work phone # and my boss' (at the time) first name.Second put as your answer to your security question something opposite of your normal answer.Something like "what is the name of your dog or pet?" you can put "itsdead".It may seem cruel but it will keep your secrets secret.GOOD LUCK!........and by the way i wouldn't let anyone in my family get away with hacking my computer! Tell that the next time she does it the consequences will be severe! If she asks what r u going to do if she does do it again tell just what u r thinking of doing & make sure u carry it out or she will always walk all over you from then on.Be brave and stand up 2 her!At the top of the YAHOO page u see your sign in name and next to it "my account",left click my account, put in your password, and hit enter. You can change your password here with a new one.Just follow the directions.

There are many things u can do about it.
a) U can have your mail local on your computer and u can change the extension of the file so it's practically impossible for her to find it. Of course u'll add a password to open the mail.
b) If u keep your mail on the web then u could change your security question often. This way even if she founds out the right one probably won't have the time to read your messages ;-) Also don't put passwords like your birthday ...try something difficult for her but easy for u e.g. your favorites actor name ;-)

Hey its a human physiology about small sister and they always tend to do something like this.
The best precaution u can take about ur mail id is.
1. If possible put an imaginary birth date so she cant match that.
2. put a secret question that only know the answer.
Becoz its not possible to open an account or get an password by just knowing the persons birthday.
Even i know many of my frnds birthday and even there mail id but i cant get there password.
Bye .............
Do all thing I said privately.
even check ur pc that has she install any keyboard recognition software or not.
The best example of keyboard recognition software is "KeyKey".
If yes, then i would highly recommended to format ur pc for once.
Bye ..................

If you keep your password extremely complicated and with plenty of alphanumeric characters, you should be fine. She can try all day.
If shes capable of doing malicious things with your data, then i wouldn't hesitate to call the police, hacking is a federal crime punishable by thousands and fines and a decade or two in prison.
Edit: I forgot about changing the security questions, that's also a great idea. In fact. Make it like a second password. Set the question name as "What's your dogs name?" or something and answer it as a completely seperate question ie,"Mint Chocolate Chip".

You can do a simple thing. Change your password regularly.
Then since she knows your birthday, change your date of birth to a false one. Next change you security question & the chose an answer that has no relation to that question. For example the question is whats the name of your first school?
Answer : David Beckhem
Now she would never know the answer. Dont write these anwers anywhere just remember them.
Best of luck.

Just change the security question.
Keep Changing your password
And create another secret account and transfer all you private mails to that e_mail id....
Don't tell every one the ID keep among those people whose mail u consider as a secret.

Set the security question very tough..which she could not answer.. like .. for name of you city and tour answer must be her name, so that non have some thing in relation.
Changing email ID is a nonsence, because its very difficult to communicate this to your friends and in business to, U cant keep on changing email ID's because of your sister, try to give more security to Email instead.
well keep the password tricky including symbols, because making combination of password with symbols is very difficult..
best of luk, but dont forget to tell the result

change your security question and password. Delete old files. Move and/or save files elswhere. If you can partition your computer, you can go to the control panel and create a pass word protection for your files.

Use her birthday instead of yours.
use a security question someone else would use (like your mother or father) but you can remember
you can get help from your Internet service provider if it is someone local.
you just have to be a little more inventive in this situation.
its hard to hack.
you just have to make it a little harder for the nosy *****.
