I am moving to Chicago with my boyfriend and he will be attending Roosevelt University. We want to find the safest area to live in but also be as close as possible to Roosevelt (which I think is downtown but I'm not positive). We really don't want to spend more than $1300 a month. Any suggestions? Thanks!

i am a 26 yr old female and lived in chicago for awhile. as with anyplace, you just always have to be careful. the goldcoast is expensive, which is directly downtown. if you want to live in a shoebox though, you could afford it. bucktown is a nice place and i always felt safe there, but it is a little far from the university, however it is only a 15 min el ride. also lincoln park and wrigleyville are safe as well. what i would do is research all the different areas on the net, the chicago tribune has a great newspaper website. check out crime in all those areas, map out train stations, how far to work or school it is and then come to chicago. go to a leasing agent (good ones don't cost you anything) and start looking. i found my apartment in one day. tell the leasing agent the top 5 areas you want to live in, how much you want to spend and they will take you all over town showing you places.

Try the Printers Row area (http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/zo/?id=100012). It's close to Roosevelt, downtown (south loop) and there's a police station not too far, if I'm not mistaken. There's also a homeless mission nearby (for now, at least) so you might have to weave around a few crazy guys/panhandlers, but they're mostly harmeless.

You can actually live almost anywhere in the city, not just downtown where the rental prices are high, and get to Roosevelt easily. If you live, for example, in Lincoln Park on the North Side, you can take one subway train and get there (the Red Line, Purple line or brown line). Don't limit yourself to just downtown living. Chicago has a pretty good public transportation system that can get you there from anywhere

Roosevelt University has a main campus downtown and one in the Northwest suburbs in Schaumburg. He may or may not take classes at either campus depending on his course of study.

The easiest way to find what you are looking for is to search the crime information for various areas.

in case you pick an section to stay and her mom facilitates her to stay, than some thing is larger than living in a motor vehicle or on the streets. As for the play/centred visitor living house, if it truly is insulated and mushy and secure, if she pick to stay there why no longer. Now raining days making waiting for artwork may be puzzling, in spite of the indisputable fact that it should be finished. Do the toddlers play contained in the playhouse and may they difficulty her? As for the decorations, who cares, pink with eco-friendly polka dots is fantastic. to communicate the mother into letting her flow there, have her say she is embarrassed to even ought to stay decrease back at living house and that her staying out contained in the play living house will enable both to have better privateness. it truly is all assuming this is a astounding and secure position to stay. the position to stay; playhouse or a Toyota, her determination.
