Is it time to make a change in our system of doing some kinds of business?

Each month, every home owner and ever apartment dweller receives a bill for his use of electricity and water and for the cost of some type of heating fuel, ( natural gas, oil, coal, butane or any other form of heating fuel.) This amounts to a tremendous effort in accounting, metering, paper handling and printing, mailing, postage and so forth... it also often results in what I believe is the very pointless necessity on the part of our utility companies to shut off services for those people who are late payers or deadbeats. The bottom line is that our current system produces a great deal of possibly wasted effort and dollars.

Suppose we made a change and demanded "FREE" utilities for individuals -- shifting the cost to taxes or onto the shoulders of business? Taxes would go up certainly & business would simply raise the price of their goods but wouldn't we little people gain something in the long run?

Fewer monthly bills - higher taxes - more corruption - another poorly run government service = AMTRAK, ticket prices have only gone up. The government has proven time and again it's inefficient when money or budgets are involved. Social Security runs a profit yearly & should have plenty of $$ to pay baby boomer retirement benefits. However, the government takes this profit and spends it on other programs that can't operate under their already enormous budget.

It'll be cold dinners in dark rooms, if the federal government gains total control over utilities.

Sounds as in case you have electric powered warmth. on the different hand, 4 hundred - 650 looks fairly severe. maximum electric powered companies (if not all), can look up the electrical powered charges from a 300 and sixty 5 days in the past. have you ever carried out that?? learn the previous charges, on your contemporary charges, that would desire to tell you something. yet once you have electric powered warmth, i will actually see your charges being above $250 a month. Heck, as quickly as I had a a million mattress room apt, my electric powered invoice grew to become into $a hundred and eighty a month for the period of the chilly wintry climate months. And my apt grew to become into small, under one thousand squareft. in case you have a great previous rambling domicile without lots insulation, i will confirm your heating invoice being 4 hundred+ a month. what's the thermostat set at on your place?? for each a million degree you develop or decrease it, which will save you 2% on your skill invoice.

Why is it that people always expect someone else to pay for there lifestyle?????

you dont like paying so much? shut off all your utilities and sit in the dark, you will save more money, and I wont have to pay for your sorry butt.

I could not disagree with you more (but I think that may have been your point)

You do point out that there are dead beats who would use more fuel that they couldn't pay for anyway.

But I do have a general destine for government programs.
