The style of music was called Doo Wop and the Shirelles were most definitely a 1950s band, no matter what charlie shitforbrains tuna tries to tell you. Met him on a sunday was a minor hit in 1958.
Extra bit of trivia. Etta James was their babysitter/chaperone when they went on tour

Pop music. btw, I love the group. I love '50s and '60s music. It's a damn shame that music has gone bad and now Rap is taking over. A couple months ago, they got rid of the only Oldies station on the radio, which was 101.9 FM. Now, they play Country music on there.
Life sucks without the Oldies!

~Three continued into the 70's and, to a lesser extent, into the 80's. They sang Rythym and Blues, mixed with pop and soul with a smattering of rock. To call them Doo wop would be insulting to them. They were pioneers in bringing rock out of its R&B roots, and they helped birth the soul movement of the mid 60's, while folks like the Beatles and Manfred Mann were covering their stuff with rock drive.
