Well we are coming up on elections in the not so distant future. Regardless of whether or not the NAACP approves of Bush after this meeting, the gesture of Bush putting the first foot forward in an effort to reconcile grievances may look good in the voters minds. Despite how you feel about the NAACP, in the general mindset of the public the NAACP is the good guy and in fact the NAACP does command leverage with a great deal of voters and can offer the Republicans the constituents they need to take the next elections. Furthermore, if the NAACP continues its assault on Bush after this meeting perhaps a role reversal may happen in which Bush is seen as the victim and the NAACP as the assailant. If it were Bush alone making this decision I doubt we would see him holding this meeting, he cant stand the NAACP, but on the other hand his fellow Republican commrades are probably putting him up to it. it is all about strategy.

I agree that the NAACP is totally partisan organization. But I think that they did respect him, they may not have applauded when Bush would have liked but I will give them credit for giving him the respect of the office.
I do not think the NAACP will support a Republican in my lifetime but I do think that the Republican party can get back some minority voters.

Because he's hoping to help people get over that "Republicans are racist" propaganda that gets the Democrats an insane number of unearned votes? It's not an effective approach though. What they really need to do is start pointing out how racist Democrats are, even when they aren't, so both sides are on even terms. Being on the defensive in politics is always losing, even when your opponents are lying. :(

He is beginning to realize that his Republican party has a good chance of losing control of the Government, this November, so he is doing a little @ss kissing in hope to get more Minority votes.
In a recent poll, Americans were asked...who will you vote for this November and the results were 44% for Republicans and 56% for Democrats.
God...I hope that poll comes true this November!
