Depending on what you want to do in film, I'd say start with film school.

There is no realistic short-cut in the film and tv industry.
Acting lessons is a good start. You should take acting for three or four years. If you are in high school, join the drama department. When you graduate from high school, go to college and major in theater. After that, go to graduate school and get a Bachelor of Theater Arts Degree in theater.
Act, act, act, in as many plays as you can. Talent agents attend theater to find clients. If a talent agent sees you, and likes your work, they "may" take you as a client. From there, they can guide your career toward film.
You also need dance (tap, jazz and ballet lessons. It is also helpful if you sing (Broadway!), can do dialects and know a foreign language. The more skills you can show an agent, or, movie producer, the more likely you are to get a good agent, and hopeuflly, good roles in TV and film.

uhhh, dollface, Katie Holmes was an actress on one of the longest running, most popular television shows, she didnt become an actress by hanging around Tom Cruise. I agree with JJ, I would only add that you probably have to move to hollywood and audition for parts, be ready for rejection though, there are thousands of wannabes in Hollywood that work at resataraunts holding on to their dream of becoming famous. Its probably easier to have no talent, but have good connections. Sad, but true.

Tons of plastic surgery and sleeping with the producer/director seems to work for a lot of people. Unfortunately lack of talent (Paris Hilton) and sanity (Tom Cruise) don't seem to be a big factor.

the best thing to do is to study or get a degree for that related field. start learning then eventually you will get to share your knowledge in the industry.

Date a celeb, like Katie Holmes did! I bet in a couple of years, she'll be an A-lister like Nic.
