can u go from L.A to san fran on streets not on freeways? just wandering.?

My daughter goes to Cal, too. So I travel the route quite often. No possible way to take streets. You may go by smaller hi-ways and main boulevards in certain areas, but you will always have to cross over to either 101, 1, 5, or 99. Just wandering is very true if you try it!

I've never heard of a way to get up to san fran from L.A. by using streets only.

I'm from L.A. so I know all the highways to get up there.
