each area of information can be protected in different ways. when it comes to persons name, thats up to you. you can choose to have that kept from the yellow pages n stuff. now when it comes to position/occupation, just depends on what area youre talking about. the position deal is just a lil narrow cause you didnt present enough information. now when it comes to corporate info, a corporation will keep the information in their system or totally delete it (depending on which information is necessary to keep & which isnt) but corporations daily have a check through of their information to make sure its safe & hacker proof.

Norton 2006...firewalls...popup blockers.....and never have a site save your password for you. Do not go to sites you don't know anything about, ask people what they think first, and if it's a bad site, you won't go there. Use the security option in your tools menu from the browser to put in your trusted sites and to block sites that you think are harmful or inappropriate. I've done this and I'm protected very, very well.

you should install an anti virus and a firewall, but most important use common sense when surfing on the net.
no protection exist against the user who clicks a lot of suspect buttons and gives out the information's above willingly.

(if you use ms windows, try to install mozilla as the browser instead of internet explorer. it's safer.)

Always have a firewall (Zonealarm is the one I use- free) and antivirus(Panda Activescan -free), Spyware (Spybot S&D- free) and Adware protection (Lavasoft Adaware- free) software installed and use it. Also its a good idea to use a router with a firewall also, they're cheap now and easy to install. CCleaner- free is a good System tracks cleaner also. Peter K's advice about clicking suspect buttons is KEY to keeping your PC Clean and Safe.

Usually these info are given by us online. you can just be aware not to pass them out to wrong sites.

Other than this using anti-virus software, ad-ware removers and firewall will protect you and your computer from getting the info leaked.
