im 15,i want to be a police officer in columbus oh when im 18
is it that dangerous,i mean u got a gun,in some cases a partner
when u hear of a cop that got killed thats like 1-in thousands right

It is rare for an officer to get killed, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I am a cop and it can be dangerous. Officers get complacent...meaning they think oh this is a normal traffic stop...which by the way is one of the most dangerous things out there to do and they forget to watch out for the signs of things that could go wrong. So it can be dangerous and you have to be prepared for anything. Things could be going great and then all of a sudden things could be going terribly wrong and you are fighting for your life.
You just have to be prepared for any and everything.

Well, statistically it's more dangerous than say, having a desk job, what with high-speed chases, dealing with criminals and drunks, etc...but if you do get hurt, you're set for life, and get a nice pension...plus you'll have the respect of your community...it's a toss up of pros and cons, so it really depends on whether you can handle the stress.
