Several years ago, "lol" used to mean "Laughing Out Loud." Nowadays it is overused and does not really mean what it used to. It usually means that the person thinks something you said was funny, but did not really laugh. It is also used as a replying word (Like "yeah" and "ok").

In chatting lol means Laugh Out Loud.Specially when your chat mate says something funny you will just type the word lol.

in the philippines, lol is a slang or short version for the filipino word "ulol" - meaning Stupid...
