Credible scientists and statisticians cite (quietly) a number around 4-6% for the percentage of the population that is homosexual. Bisexual numbers are hard to measure as these are lifestyle choices, not biological imperatives, and are commonly lumped in with gay numbers in popular culture.

Gay rights groups have political motivations to enhance these numbers to make themselves seem more important politically and socially than they really are.

Whatever.

Gay numbers seem higher now because there gay people are generally brighter and more creative than other people and they gravitate disproportionately to higher profile media and artistic jobs, so they are more visible.
