The guy that said they are one--"space-time"--is correct, except that he says that it is the latest thinking. This is not the newest idea, but the most generally accepted. A man named Albert Einstein explained this thoroughly in his paper "On the Theory of Special Relativity," written in 1905. Not exactly new stuff.
