I have not been able to verify this independently.. .or from the Internet.

One of my English college professors was from the UK. He claims the "f" word had its origins from the ancient Anglo-Saxons or early English. . .and that it was specifically used as an insult or derogatory term for the Roman soldiers when they occupied much of the UK near the start of the Common Era. . .the term used. . .not sure of the spelling is. . .Feruk or Feruck. . .and it meant something like "p--s off". It did NOT originally have a sexual connotation or a Latin origin. . .nor was it, like today, a catch-all one syllable word to mean just about anything you want it to mean. . .so as to attempt or think you are "shocking" someone!

Ahh no, these people are wrong.. it had to do something with one army fighting another army.. and the one army was told to cut off the middle finger or (the bow finger) of the other army so that the other army could not "pluck their bows".. and so when the other army one they all stuck up their middle fingers showing that they won. Pluck you.. become F you... this is what I heard somewhere, I just dont believe in the acronyms of the other people.
