Being a cat, Tom has almost swallowed Jerry the Mouse once. But Jerry grabbed hold of Tom's tongue and slingshot/bungeed his way back out.
In another cartoon, Jerry's magical Uncle was caught by Tom. The Uncle hyptonized Tom, willingly went inside him, and released all the captured animals that Tom 'ate" like he was setting prisoners free from a jail cell. Everyone escaped out alive: flocks of birds, mice, and even a goldfish. Then the Uncle took his place back in Tom's paw, snapped his fingers, and Tom dropped him in shock, aware of what just happened.
The first was Hanna-Barbera, the second was directed by Chuck Jones. Wish I could remember more, but the above is just off the top of my head.

Actually, Tom did catch Jerry in one of the old episodes, but I forgot which episode it is. Tom manage to eat Jerry, but did not digest him.
Hey, Eat and Digest isn't the same right?

leave that to the cartoon, even if did Tom did catch Jerry a few times, he didn't eat him.
