So i reacently have gone through a battery of operations and procedures because I have curvical cancer. Its a very agressive form that was hopefully caught in time. ( I will not be sure until I have been cancer free for 2 years.) My doctor told me that it was HPV. I had never heard of it before. With the new arrival of my first son and the news of agressive cancer I was floored with emotions and fears. And found it hard to listen to him about what was going on. My mother (such an amazing woman) was there to support me and we both did the research together which made it easier to listen to the facts. Im not so sure on what the stats or percentages are when it comes to how many woman are infected and of those how many are subject to getting cancer. This I would like to know. But I have reacently heard that they have approved and vaccine that will possibly illiminate the cancer causing gean in HPV. Are you between 9 and 26? Are you sexually active? Would you get the vaccine to save you?

Its important to let you know that this vaccine is something you should get before you become sexually active. The correct term is Human Papillomavirus. There are over 100 or so forms of HPV. This vaccine will not help you with all of them but it will safe guard you against4 strands 2 of which are the cancer causeing forms and the other two produce genital worts. It may be gross but you can protect yourself.

well when i get my pap smears they normally do test to see. HPV=Human Papalomus (sp) Virus. It has been around for years, but no one brought it out into the public to address.and to acknowledge that it is serious. It sometimes cant be classified and thus for your pap smear will come up "AbNormal" and the dr's might just let it slide. but ladies if you ever should have an "Abnormal" pap, please ask them to test for HPV, this is really serious and is affecting more and more females each year. Please get pap smears and regular check ups.your health is something really important.

i am so glad u put this. When i got prego w/ my daughter, they told me i had it, i didn't know that hpv existed, also that there is no test to run on a man to see if he has it, so its not to say im a slut, i just should have been more careful, so i did research and found the same info u did. Since then, i started hearing more about it, i just wish i was more informed on ALL the sexual viruses there are, not just the common ones u hear of...

I turned twenty-six a few days before the vaccine was approved, so it's too late for me to get it. If it had been available when I was in college and had insurance, I definitely would have got it.
