Hate to tell you bud, but even if you're tall your chances are slim to none. There are 14 year olds that are playing AAU basketball (witch is best for recruiting) and are already ranked, dunking, and doing interviews. I went to a high school with an elite team and there were kids that were 15 playing on varsity and nationally ranked some college coaches are even getting verbal commitments from kids in middle school. Most NBA potential players easily made there middle school and high school teams and some could even go to the NBA out of high school. There are literally HUNDREDS of highly talented basketball players that wont even get division 1 scholarships. Even Michael Jordan who got cut from varsity was only a sophomore and starred for JV. There are kids already in your grade being recruited by top college programs as well as elite camps basketball camps like Nike, Reebok, Adidas. So basically you should really put your faith in your education. I have no doubt that you will get better there were kids that got cut from my middle school team who became top high school even college players, but just like you me and thousands of others would have done anything to make the NBA and it just probably wont happen. If it were easy we would all do it and its not smart to only have one plan to make the NBA. It is literally SO HARD to make the NBA so I know this may be hard but I feel it would be best to tell you how it is, pretty soon it wont even matter I can honestly laugh at the fact that I really thought I was going to the NBA but once you get older you'll realize that most won't and even fewer last once they get there. good luck buddy

You need height, skills and talent. I would suggest not pinning your hopes on basketball. It's a sport that is terribly known for selfishness and divaness. Furthermore, if you don't have the height, you can really be screwed.
Why not try soccer? It's an up and coming sport that accessible to most people of all heights. Try baseball, even football, if you have the body. I think it's much more worth your time to get good at those sports than basketball.
Not a lot of people play it, so if you really have talent, you could possibly go pro. Basketball is a bad sport because you really can't prove yourself. Even if you're good, people won't pass the ball if they don't like you.
Given the nature of today's world, play sports that are more team-oriented. Basketball is meant to be played with two people maximum.

Practice your 3 pointers. Accuracy, and dribbling are key. You also have to be fast. Run a few miles at least twice a week. Work on your abs, and do push ups. Don't worry about height. That has nothing to do with it. A midget will beat Shaq any day if he's fast and accurate. Good luck with your dreams. Never give up. Remember, MJ didn't even make the high school team until his junior yr.

Don't let pier pressure kick you around. Then make sure youz got skills like JJ Redick. Practice shots that Larry Bird attempted. Drive into the lanes as Magic Johnson did. Dribble the ball like you were Tim Hardaway. Drink lots of milk and eat bananas & apples in the morning. Learn to tolerate the pain of fatigue from hard workouts.
Cause if you don't follow these guidelines, you'll just graduate from High School with no talent and end up working 9 to 5 barely able to support your family and never saving enough money for yourself cause your CEO embezeled the company pension fund to overseas accounts and lost half of it in venture capital fund managers recommendations. Then your wife will leave you and take the kids to Mexico.
