In case you didn't know, abortion has been happening since the beginning of time. Whether you like it or not, abortion will happen. When it was illegal many woman still had abortions and died because of it. ABORTION NEEDS TO STAY LEGAL. This is a SAFE PROCEDURE that doctors preform in a clean environment.

Men shouldn't even be able to answer this question because they aren't the ones who will carry a baby for nine months. Many woman are ignorant or oblivious because they have not been through certain circumstances that woman who have abortions have gone through.

There are already too many unwanted babies! ABORTION IS NOT MURDER! The child isn't living and DOESN'T SUFFER!

If the child doesn't feel pain then it doesn't make a difference whether it is terminated. It is not a human being. If no one had abortions this world would be overcrowded with unwanted children. Some woman may resort to murdering their baby after it is born, and which is worse? That is an example of murder, not abortion.

A woman has the right to choose and whether you like it or not, she will. Don't say the woman was a whore because we all make mistakes. Nobody is perfect and as far as Im concerned abortion isnt hurting ANYBODY. It isn't your business, until it happens to you then you shouldn't have the right to judge.

My #1 value is freedom - which means everyone is free to do what they like as long as it doesn't hurt someone's property or person. That makes most questions easy to answer. However, abortion was tricky because it's the rights the fetus vs the rights of the mother. Does the mother have the right to control her body and deny the birth of the fetus, or does the fetus have the right to hold it's mother's body hostage until born?

I had no legal opinion, I started to debate it within my mind like this:
Who has more rights? Well, age earns a person more rights. People under 21yrs may not drink booze, under 18yrs may not vote, under 16yrs may not drive, under 5yrs really only have the right to health & life - the parent makes all choices. So 1 point towards the mother.

However no one has the right to murder! Murder is defned as a "the crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice aforethought". Notice it's not just "killing" it's "unlawfully" killing, so therfore since abortion is legal - by defination no one can "murder" a fetus! However, I'm more reasonable so I'll go with murder just meaning - "ending the life of another human" ok?

So, now the question is when does life begin? Everything points to life beginning at birth and not before:

(1) Age / your "lifetime" is the measurement of how long you've lived. So, if you really think life begins at conception you need to add 9 months to your age.
(2) Citizenship begins at birth, not conception. A person may be concieved in Mexico, but is an American citizen if born in U.S.
(3) The Bible tells us life begins at first breath

Even God isn't against abortions - I mean how could He be when: in Exodus 12:29 he killed so many kids after birth! "Death for the First-Born Sons At midnight the LORD killed the first-born son of every Egyptian family, from the son of the king [a] to the son of every prisoner in jail. He also killed the first-born male of every animal that belonged to the Egyptians. 30That night the king, his officials, and everyone else in Egypt got up and started crying bitterly. In every Egyptian home, someone was dead."

So even the Bible agree, however I'm an athiest so I didn't use any religious superstitions to decide, only pure legal logic. And in America religion shouldn't make the law - hey some religions think it's wrong to hurt cows - does that mean a law should be passed to ban hamburgers?

So everything points to abortion being legal. There is no logical, scientifical, or even Biblical reason to make abortion illegal.

However, since I'm a fair and just person I fully support the compromise of banning abortions once the fetus is viable. In other words at the stage in pregnancy where you could do a C-section on the mother and the baby could be remove and live on it's own, then you can't end the pregnancy - Unless it's a danger to the life or health of the mother!

Ahhh the abortion debate. Well, here is my view. I believe that in every problem the right solution lay somewhere in the middle. I think everyone in this forum can agree that a teenager who decides to have sex shouldn't get an abortion. If you believe you are old enough to have sex, you should be willing to support the consequences. I think that everyone can agree it is wrong to be used as birth control as one other person said.

The grey area then comes in when it comes to rape and choosing between the mothers life and the baby's. This is where I think most people would disagree. I personally, do not know what I would do if I were raped. I think I would keep it anyways, but I do not know. If I were going to die or the baby were, I think I would get an abortion.

Now, a lot of people are going to say that I'm being a hypocrite. Well, no, you're wrong. If I made a consious decision to have sex, and both the baby and I were going to be alive at the end of the whole ordeal, well I would keep it. But those are circumstances that you have no control over.

I have known a lot of people who are unable to have kids. They are trying for years and years to have babies and are unable to concieve. It is hard for me to look at them and then be able to turn around and have sympathy for a 19 year old girl who got knocked up by her boyfriend and got an abortion. If she made the consious decision to have sex than she should be in a position to take care of it. I would have no problem with abortion if it wasn't used as birth control and was used to save someone's life or in rape cases, as I think most people would. I think the world just needs to teach their son's and daughters some morals, like don't have sex at 13. Wait until you're out of high school.

I like the fact that it is legalized, in case it needs to be used, I just feel it should be better monitored.

If you're pregnant, it's a baby.

Did you know that the 'unliving thing' you're all talking about can suck it's thumb, and cry, and hiccup before that '23rd week, it's really a baby now' mark?

Did you know that it can move away from loud noises, or towards the light?

Did you know that when the instruments of abortion invade it's home, that it moves away from them? Or that when you have an abortion past a certain point that the baby is actually chopped up? Did you know that it screams?

Maybe if we put more emphasis on responsibility and safe sex, then we wouldn't have to be having discussions about whether or not it's alright to murder a helpless baby so we can go on having fun going to parties or sleeping in or buying that great new sports car.

If you're not mature enough to be raising a baby, then you're not mature enough to be having sex.

I am 95% against abortion the only reason one should have an abortion is if either the moms life is at high risk or if the mom was raped, but even then the abortion should be done in less than a month of getting pregnant. Anyone else who was an abortion because the were dumb enought to go and spead their legs are just stupid you were given the gift of giving life and it is wrong to take it just because you were foolish enough to go and open your legs.

That is oppinion.....and you have the right to have it. I feel that a women has the right to choose.....I dont think an abortion is right, but thats only for me. Who are you to tell someone what they should do with there bodies or life. My best friend had an abortion and she beats herself about it enough she doesnt need to hear from people that she is a murder. If my mom had an abortion when I wouldnt be here.....and I wouldnt know the difference because I wouldnt have been born.

Abortion does not mean you are killing a baby. It's a feotus unable to breathe on it's own so it's not classified as a living thing until week 22. After that it can be classified as murder. If your mum had an abortion with you we would not have to answer this stupid question.

Did not God himself create his perfect State of Nature?

Did he not create man to choose right and wrong?

Should the life of an un-born child be decided by his/her parents?

Did not God himself give Parentalship to these unborn children?

In concern of rape, should the life of the unborn child be taken because of the sins of his father?

Did God not know at the time of conception that the childs life would be taken at the decision of the very people he placed Parentalship over?

Do not doubt for a minute that everything that happens does so at God's will. And do not doubt we will answer for what we have done. We all are sinners, and as such are forgiven. Therfore it is not our place to judge others. But we must fight the "Good Fight".

If you regard abortion as murder, then you are regarding life as including the growth of those two cells into an entire body, right?

Then you also should agree that life doesn't end until the body completely decomposes.

Gosh! Think of all the live people that we've buried!

If my mom would have aborted me, I would not have to deal with psychotics that insist that forcing someone to keep an unwanted baby is better than discreetly and safely disposing of nothing more than medical waste.

Along with the purchase of those PRO-LIFE bumper stickers should come an unwanted child whose mother was denied an abortion because of right-winged lunacy.
