Could be a wide range of issues? What OS are you running? Older operating Systems had some problems with sharing IRQ's but it could also be the version of USB you have Early USB had numerous problems and where very slow. I have found that often times the first USB port was used mouse/keyboard and the others for printers etc.. So it will depend you could switch them up and see if the mouse works on another port? If not do you get any message from the computer showing it even saw the mouse? If not you could have a bad mouse. If the computer does see it you may need to get a updated driver. Hope that helped.

Try using the mouse in the mouse port using an adaptor plug. Does the mouse work on other computers? It may have failed, mice don't last forever. Good luck!
