There are plenty of openings in every state.
Go to the states' Department of Education Website, for any state you are interested in.
Some states have consolidated job openings listings for their districts, some don't. For the ones that don't, they WILL have a list of individual district websites... go to the websites and check their Human Resources/employment offices.
If you want the job, you've got to put in the effort.
In addition, you will have to be certified for the state you are moving to. The state DOE's will have a page or two about that too.. look under their "Licensure" and/or "professional development" links.
If you are already ceritifed for the state you are living in, most states have a dual option for transfers... the first is that you put in a year of full-time coursework on state-specific information (preferred methodology, laws, etc.) before getting your own classroom. The other is to be hired already on a waiver, and complete those same courses in 2 years.

www.austin.isd.tenet.edu/inside/hr/fairs.phtml should help you find the available positions in Austin and perhaps they can help you research other Texas school districts for openings there. I wish you all the luck and hope to see you in Texas soon. I do not know anything about salaries but those you contact might.
p.s. Try www.careerbuilder.com/np.ic/texas_austin_education.htm
