claim.Details:I sent a pkg, electronics item insured which arrived damaged from US to Iraq.USP.O.Claims told me it was too soon to make a claim-wouldnt give me form.I turned in a form and was called to come pick it up(too soon to make claim).Resubmitted form, called for a copy, none given. After lengthy time, recipient threw item out-no room to keep broken item.I complained, Postmaster had meeting with me and claims person who lied.Postmaster said when StLouis sends me denial, the he will authorize it.Another lengthy time goes by and I dont recieve denial. Claims dept "calls StLouis, StLouis said letter went to recipient May5 and did not get a reply so they closed the file"I ask recipient and recipient did not ever receive a letter from StLouis, another lie from claims. In other words, the claims woman has lied all along. Her first impression was that my claim was "for loss" and she has since lied to cover her initial mistake, lying all the way through. Forget the money now, she interfered

with "postal regulation" which caused my loss d/t the "postal regulations" requiring a damaged item be returned to the PO. Let me add I just spoke with claims July 18.Meeting with postmaster would now be circular. I complained online at the USPS web...return reply was that it was understood I was seeking tracking information on an international item. Bullshit. I gave all the dates and details online. I want recourse for the lying post office now...the money for the insured item is a dead issue. This item went to a soldier-it was NOT international. Now they cant even get that straight. I asked for online complaint to go to Consumer Affairs against the employee and I get a goofy reply like that. I just need to know since it is the post office and she and local postmaster have all that sown up, do I have recourse with this woman somewhere/ANYWHERE elese? What? How?

the USPS took the box,the postagedue, the money for insurance and issued the recp't for all transactions. It is considered DOMESTIC mail. They assumed responsibility when they took the box.I paid for THEIR- USPS's service.USPS is the only way, not UPS nor FedX nor any other way to deliver a box to a serviceman. They have it sown up,and they alone are responsible.Thnx tho.

Personally, I would document all of this in a well written letter and submit it to the Postmaster. You will get the run around again, but then you can use that to take the complaint higher. You need a paper trail because any supervisor or regulatory agency is going to ask you if you tried to resolve this at the local level first.

I understand your situation, but the PO may not have been the problem with the damaged goods. We only deliver the box you sent to the military. The military is then the one that actually sends the article overseas and delivers it. So it would be hard to prove who actually damaged it. I'm not trying to cover for the claims people you've talked to, but they should have at least told you about who actually delivers military mail.

You sent electronics to Iraq in May? you are damned lucky you weren't arrested! Ofcourse they were damaged, any parts that could be used to make a bomb were removed, and any parts that could be used for any military purpose were broken or removed. You are not allowed to send electronics to a country that America is at war with, fool. Next time, drive up to Canada and buy the electronics here and send them through Canada Post or go to Mexico and send them through mexican post.

Call legal aid in your area. They give free legal advice and may even take you on as a client. I have used legal aid in the past and it was free and not once did I ever meet any of the attorneys. It was all done on the phone. Good luck.... oh and they resolved all the issues for me.....
