I don't know if that is true, and if you cared at all for the person, wouldn't you be intelligent and intuitive enough to find other ways to express that which seems to bother you so? IE: A woman asks the question,,,"Do these pants make me look fat?" I won't insult you, but hopefully you have some shred of diplomacy in you, if ever asked that question?
In your deepest connections with anyone,,, was it ever a critical issue, or did you disregard their value/worth, considering pennies as opposed to the benefits of caring?
For me,,, My vehicles, are high maintenance. My Lady, the woman I love, is worth every drop of my blood I might offer.

Because it's usually used as an excuse not to spend money! Women ARE high maintenance ! It takes money to be attractive to men and then to have a man that liked the effort of your maintenance to complain is just plain tacky. the same man would complain if that woman didn't look her best!

Umm, I'm not insulted. No one tells me I'm high maintenance yet I know I am and proud of it. Its not about being materialistic or greedy, or selfish but about keeping up with my spirit; going, doing, keeping a blaze going. If two have the same kind of spark, maintenance, high or low will be mutual, equal and enjoyable.

Because "high maintenance" is a euphemism for petty and shallow.

It's a backhanded compliment - sounds like it ought to be nice, when in fact it's not - something akin too - she's not a two bagger - what's the real implication here then?

For the same reason you get insulted when they ask you if you are gay. You are both under the belief that you are not.

They think you think they're a pain to take care of and they hate being told that they need a lot of work done to be attractive.

b/cuz it's kind of insulting to say. It's pretty much saying, "you're stuck on yourself, materialistic, and a money whore." which is not what we want to hear
