Is our society still that ignorant that people are still being brought up to believe that white people are superior to any other race? I mean I know I can answer my own question because the answer is yes..but what I don't understand is how we have come so far but still seem so far away. Was Martin Luther King's work for nothing...did the words he spoke mean nothing to people today? Everyone is created equal, I think it is a disgusting thing to bring your children up believing that one race is better then another but there are still people like in the KKK that teach their children to hate black people and Jewish people. What makes us white people any better then them...because "we" "owned" a certain race does that make us far superior to them? Hitler wasn't "pure" why do so many people still think that is the "way"? I just have so many questions regarding racism...I have a biracial child and I feel like he is getting the best of two worlds getting to learn about two seperate cultures.

Your lst poster showed how racism still exist by bashing and not answering the question. Equality will only come when judgment day comes and God will separate the sheep from the goats. I pray that the some of the white people will be there!

The answer is simple. IGNORANCE. And ignorance is passed down. When you have a parent that feels strongly enough to hate a certain race, they will eventually pass these views to their children, creating a cycle. Whithin a year ago, hispanics passed the african-american race in numbers, thereby becoming the largest minority in America. I think that this is the perfect time for not only whites, but blacks as well to step up to the plate. What better time to show the world how America is a melting pot of culture? And we also must remember, it's unfair to separate anyone into a certain groups, even whites!! There is nothing more annoying than blacks feeling like they can crack a white joke, knowing good and well, a black joke would not be taken as well. The point I'm getting at is, and we have all heard it before, we are all AMERICAN. That is something we all have in common!! And hey, if you ask me, it's a great place to start.

I understand your fury, and believe me that I share it. But I wouldn't be so pessimistic as to believe that nothing has changed since Martin Luther King, the KKK or Hitler. We haven't progressed so much as you and I would wish, but considering that there are economic interests behind racism, we have done a lot. Remember that Hitler was elected seventy odd years ago. I think now he wouldn't. And remember that the KKK enjoyed a certain support in its time, and now anyone who wanted to support the KKK would have to do it in secret, and anonymously. And remember that in older times, it was considered logical to discriminate against black people, but now it's considered an atrocity. Some people still do it (too many for my taste) but this is considered socially wrong, and discriminative people are cast away as abnormal freaks. Only a few decades ago, you would have been called any names for even stating that you have a biracial child (or the implied fact that your partner is of another sex). Now, that's absolutely acceptable and nobody will even dream of saying anything to you for that, at least because if they did, they'd go to jail. In some places, YOU would have gone to jail for your marriage, not too long ago. That's not all that had to be done, but it's something. And we should keep on working from that.

Believe me, I actually encounter more racism in the black culture than in the white culture. Its bad wherever it is, but trust me, the law supports the black culture, where it turns its back on racism towards the white culture, and that is rampant. Many times I've heard whites being denigrated and accused by blacks simply because they didnt agree with them. Every white with a different point of view becomes a racist. If you truly have a biracial child, then you have to know it works both ways, so why do you focus on whites? Are you prejudiced yourself?

it's sooo much deeper than just that. MLK's work was a PIECE (a GREAT piece of course that cant be overlooked) of the Civil rights movement but that wasn't as long ago as people like to pretend. My mother lived in a segregated society and she is still "young". The effects of racism and slavery in the US aren't going to just disappear because there are changes in society. They have in fact only turned into different issues that are not less severe but have stemmed from the original existence of social superiority of white people in this country.

Would you think I was racist if I wanted a day to celebrate "white pride" Would you think I was racist if I wanted to start my own television station called W.E.T (white entertainment television) If you do, its people like you who cause trouble! The average white person doesnt understand why we are racist when we say YAY WHITE, you label us as racist so in the end those people become racist as they dont understand why they cant do it!!! Im 23 years old, I wasnt around when all the bull $hit was going down, but all because im white, I can never be proud about that as society will label me a racist! Its not about white power for me, or whites been superior, as NO ONE is more superior then the other just because of there colour, but perhaps if people quit crapping on about it, it wouldnt be in our face and we wouldnt have anything to ***** about!

MLK's work was not for nothing....look at how much progress we have made towards equality in such a short time. The KKK is dying quickly, I doubt there will be many around after a few more generations.

Sadly its true that racism still exist in America. My question as a follow-up to your statements: What make America a role model to the world regarding democracy and liberty when we as a society fail everyday to set the example?

A small minority of people still preach hate to their kids. This hate is known as "white pride."

A pastor at my church said that this kind of pride is un-Christian because of the factor that some people think they're better than others.
