intelligence is so difficult to identify.
this is an example.
I played a few games of chess with this one guy, he couldn't beat me(I was not versed at the time in chess strategy), a friend accidentally put his hand thought a glass window and severed most of his tendons, this same guy said "you need to think of something else to take your mind away from the pain, just think of hamburgers! it always help me!" He then went on to score 1600 in his SAT
do you truly believe that there is a way to level an individuals intelligence without IQ or EQ tests?

Intelligence is something which pertain to your mental skills and capacities. IQ or EQ tests are way to measure them but I truly believe that what the test result tell you is just an estimate of your intelligence. If you are intelligent then you are intelligent. But mind you a gift of being intelligent is a great assest if you norture it and use it accordingly. By then being intelligent will make you smart. But to be smart does not require one to be intelligent and on the other hand being intelligent does not automatically make you smart. It is how you will coordinate the different aspects to influence on your actions.

How do you know that the guy wasn't letting you win, or that the silly hamburger comment wasn't a joke? More importantly though, SAT's measure verbal and mathematical skills. These are just two types of intelligence. There are so many others: Spatial, Physical, Emotional, Social etc. Just because someone does well in one area, it doesn't mean that they will do well in everything else.

Also, some psychologists see the construct of intelligence as being more about the way a person learns, as opposed to how much a person knows. Theoretically, an intelligent person learns more quickly, and has a greater depth of understanding than a less intelligent person. If someone has the ability to do these things, but doesn't have the opportunity to develop that ability or exposures to learning experiences to foster it then they may end up underperforming.

Basically, intelligence isn't a straightforward concept and this accounts for some of the reservations that people have against IQ testing.

I have always hated intelligence tests. They are so limiting and don't take other things into account like perception, social skills, common sense, etc. This explains why so called smart people don't always do well in life. You need a full deck - more rounded skills that enable you to cope with everything life can throw at you, not just chess or math.

Yes you can measure someone's intelligence with an IQ test...that does not mean they have common sense. If fact most of the more intelligent people that I know have less common sense and more quirks than those with average intelligence.
