My friend drives an 01 Mustang GT and wants to race this guys 01 WS6(at the track). His mustang just has exhaust and intake and the T/A is stock. I have nothing against mustangs but the T/A is a faster car period and he is wanting to place money down that his GT is faster. Any way to convince him not to lose his money?? Both drivers are pretty good.

hate to say it but is sounds like your buddy is gonna be out some cash. I'm a mustang owner also (95 GT - Kenne Bell, 331, AFR 185 Heads, 560 RWHP) and I had to lose a few races (not too mention some hard earned cash) before I learned my lesson. If he won't do listen tell him to go to a best of 5 series and hope the guys car breaks.

Yeah, pride aside, a stock F-body is quicker than the Mustangs of that day. Granted, the 'Bird is a bit heaver than a Camaro, but all things aside, his Mustang will get beaten. People put a lot of stock in intake and exhaust mods, but in reality, they will only give you a few horses at most, even in a big-bore motor like an LS1 or Ford 4.6. However, the contest is close enough where a driver mistake like spinning the wheels off the line or balking on a shift can lose the race, so tell your friend to be careful.

You should have him do a little research about the 0-60 times of stock WS6 Trans Ams. They can do a good 4.8 0-60. The Mustang is no where near as fast at probably 5.5 seconds 0-60. I wouldn't be betting on it unless he gets a few more mods.

The T/A is a little stronger, so it could come down to driver error. I'd still lean a bit towards the T/A.---- but it wouldn't beat my '03 Cobra unless I fell asleep.

sounds like your not going to talk him out of this, and its a race he isnt going to win. unless the guy misses a gear, or spins his tires too much. so bet your friend that he will loose. that way you atleast gain something. lol.
