The last three questions I posted were meant to be funny. Speaking about the American Declaration of Independence and Mexican Immigrants. The answers I got proved to me that the Americans have no sence of Humour at all. I was surprised as the British can laugh at comical things and Americans take it so seriously. It is probably because Britain is is like an adult and America is like a little young child. Anyone else think Americans have no sence of humour?

I thought they were hilarious. Your little test doesn't really prove anything because it was not performed in a scientifc manner and thus has no value like most shat made outside the US. But enjoy your nonsense anyway.

I had a conversation with some British people recently. We were discussing the movie Shrek2, and they said they were offended, for their kids' sakes, by all the cussing in the movie.

I asked what they were talking about, and they said that the word "bloody" was used flippantly.

Well, I explained, in the UK, the word bloody might be a cussword, but in America, it describes what happens when someone falls through a plateglass window.

So, our terminology is definately different. Also, the things that make Brits laugh will probably be different than what makes Americans laugh. It's a cultural thing. Even in America, there are different cultures with different senses of humor.

We were raised with a very Jewish "Woody Allen, Allan Sherman" sense of humor. I never get tired of The Three Stooges or Billy Crystal's brand of humor.
Also, if you are older than 13, I am sure you know this, it is not easy to convey emotions, such as jokes and such, through written communication...hence, many folks attach "jk" or "just kidding" to their messages...because we cannot see the wink or the smirk on the poster's face when they post.

If you were trying to be funny, and are offended that we didn't get your joke, maybe you should give up your dream of being a comedienne and just keep your day job. =) (Smileys also convey the good natured intent of your post in these types of communications).

I would opinion the British humour (our "humor") is more inclined to the pun. Monty Python is hilarious to me in print but I'm not catching all the subleties when our TV broadcasts those old reruns. Americans are more into slapstick. It's the difference between vaudville and theatre (our "theater"). I don't know about England, but if we tell an off colour (our "color") joke at a large corporation to the ladies, they know they can claim sexual harrassment and get you fired (your "canned"). Times have changed. I've enjoyed watching the old American cartoons on TV, the ones where blacks are characterized but we'd never show those old cartoons in "these" United States. The Germans take it as innocent humor. They admire American blacks.

Yep, I get the humour in your previous messages.
I can also understand the lack of understanding from the US respondents.

Personally, I love the Brit humour; I just won't tolerate people who can't take what they dish out.

How about some humorous tales regarding the conquering & populating of England? Nothing like a bit of humility to win your audience!

Personally, I enjoy British humor. One of the things that makes British humor so great is its outrageousness. But what makes it funny is the context in which it is presented.

Subtle humor is lost on people in Yahoo! Answers, there's way too many people here that are just rabble-rousers, so you probably appeared to be one of those folk. Were this a more sensible forum, perhaps people could have seen your questions with the humor they intended.

So I wouldn't be so quick to judge America's sensibilities by responses you recieve around here.

Oh, gee-whiz, I can hardly answer your question, since I am such a young child!!! Wait a second while I get my diaper changed....oh, now, that's much better! Let me get back to this letter I'm writing to a smug, idiot who can't even spell the word, "sense", as in, he doesn't have any.
