I believe after recent world tournaments that the US team is more focused and more pumped to win the world championships. They will have to win because Lebron and D Wade have become much more accomplished players.

Even with a couple of bad performances by the USA team in the wold basketball championships, they are and will always be the team to beat.. But i think what they really lack is a program like what they are doing now.. You just cant win international style of play with 1 on 1 plays.. There has to be teamwork..
Team USA have every reason to believe now that they can finally bring back the gold if they just play as a team for their motherland and not for their own personal showcase..

There is no doubt that the USA is the favorite in the World Basketball Championships. The players that are there to play now are there for a reason and that is to win. Anything less than gold is a failure. They will be pumped and ready

Any team that has D Wade would be a favorite. Any team with Kobe would be a favorite. Let me put it this way, if Lebron played for Lebanon, not only would it sound cool, but they'd win. There's just not enough spread out talent to break the concentration (of talent and focus) of the U.S. Sure, Dirk is for Germany, but who else they got? Hasselhoff can't dunk! He runs the fast break in slow motion like he's on the beach. But hey the German's love him. What, is Steve Nash gunna dish it off to a Maple leaf? Is Ginobli gunna blind everyone with his bald spot? I Don't Think So! Shane Battier is too good for us to lose! You heard it here first, U.S.A. will be Golden in 2008, and not just because Bush will be out of office. Thank you and God Bless America.

It would be ridiculous to say there are not the favorites. Every single player on the US team would be the best player on any other team*
*except germany and dirk

D wade says they are not the favorites. But There seems to be a new attitude from the players. They seem to be disgusted that the US has done so badly.I think that this team now may be together for a while, this can only help.

The US would have to be the favourites, but the other teams aren't going to just roll over and play dead. On any given day..
Anyways, there should be some good baskeball, which is always good.

I think they might not be favored by much, but will open all the games up and win them all big.
